After enjoying several days with my family down in Texas for the holidays, I felt like one lucky designer with the opportunity to install this gorgeous powder bath in Houston just in time for the new year.
My client and I have actually talked about this small space for quite some time (definitely longer than I've lived in New York!) so it was very exciting to see this project through. I knew she wanted to wallpaper so we began the design process by selecting the perfect paper. While there were several excellent contenders out there, she ultimately picked this Osborne & Little showstopper called Mandara. Described by O&L as having "silhouettes of a forest set against cool metallic shades of silver", this paper had the perfect scale and dazzling appeal for this small, intimate space. We then selected a gorgeous frame-less Venetian mirror that really floats in the room and opted to replace the single box builder light fixture with two elegant crystal sphere sconces. I love that the space turned out to be so glamorous and inviting, but not (too) over-the-top.
The best part of the whole project was being able to "move that bus" and reveal the powder bath to my client with just hours before my flight back to New York! I also really love this project because it truly is an excellent example of how a few meaningful updates can really transform a space.
