Greystones classic Six
When an estate condition classic six apartment came available across the street from our existing one-bedroom apartment, my husband and I jumped at the opportunity to restore one of these beautifully proportioned apartments that had luckily not been stripped of its prewar charm. Honoring the original details while updating the apartment for our modern needs, we matched mouldings, maintained the original doors and functioning transom windows, refinished the handsomely bordered parquet floors, and even kept a portion of the original kitchen cabinetry. We moved just two days prior to New York City’s shelter-in-place order and found great comfort in our cheery new home, shared garden space, and the caring community in Jackson Heights during such a frightening time.
